Recently, the American Ceramic Society online issued the awards in the field of international ceramics in 2020. Dr. Lin Dabin from the School of Opto-Electronics Engineering of XATU was awarded the Ross Coffin Purdy Award issued by the American Ceramic Society (https://ceramics .org/awards/ross-coffin-purdy-award).

The Ross Coffin Purdy Award, tracing back to the year of 1949, is an award to scholars from all over the world who have made outstanding contributions to ceramic technology. During his visit to Pennsylvania State University, Dr. Lin Dabin cooperated with Dr. Li Feibo from Xi’an Jiaotong University to prepare Sm-doped PMN-PT ferroelectric ceramics with ultra-high voltage electrical properties, which was published in Nature Materials in the form of a paper and was introduced in the volume news&views of the journal, “The largest effect was observed with a samarium (Sm) donor dopant, resulting in spectacular piezoelectric coefficients of ~1500pCN-1, the highest ever reported in polycrystalline ceramics”. The article has been reported on the U.S. Department of Energy website, Pro-Physik, Phys.org and others, which has attracted widespread attention from the academic community, and has been cited by 283 academic articles.
